What is AIS 140?
AIS 140 is the Automotive Industry Standard for Vehicle Location Tracking Systems (VLTS) and Emergency Request Buttons (ERB) used in public transport and commercial vehicles. It is mandated by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) to improve passenger safety and enable real-time vehicle monitoring by state transport authorities.
Compliance typically requires a certified tracking device with continuous location reporting, emergency buttons, and data transmission to designated government servers.
